  Minutes

Minutes of meeting on 14th October 2008 read and agreed as a correct record.

  Matters Arising

  •  Billy and Stephen have not had chance to speak to the Norton's yet re the show ground.

•  The food hygiene course was very well delivered. 30 people attended and £120 was received in fees. This may have a positive impact on our insurance as various committee members are now certificated.

•  Fire drill will be next month due to low numbers at the meeting tonight.

  Treasurer's Report

Billy delivered Elliot's report in his absence. Copy attached to the Minutes.

It was noted that expenses continue to exceed income but the parish council grant may assist with the deficit.

Elliott will be asked next month to enlighten the committee about the £798 spent on repairs.

Whist Drive

Norma Robson has taken over control of its finances.

  Bonfire Night

Thanks to Nikki for supplying the field and all who built the fire and dealt with fireworks. This was extremely well supported and very positive feedback was received from attendees.

The door took £424 in donations. £500 profit was made (split between youth club and the Hall). Duncan Butterworth of Whalton Park donated the sausages. Alison to write letter of thanks. Sausages were more popular than soup. Agreed to increase the former and supply less soup although it was considered extreme to abandon soup altogether.

Fund Raising

5th December 2008 Puppet Show - all to publicise and sell tickets. This is at 6.30pm. Posters available to distribute. Susan and Sheila will be on the door. Youth club to be asked to provide refreshments.

19 th December 2008 Carol singing outside the Hall. Billy will ask David Adams to enquire about the possibility of a tree once again from the Cookson's.

24th January 2009 Burns Night. Tickets £12.50 each.

Bingo Night! Agreed to pursue this idea. Perhaps an Easter egg based event. Stephen T will make further enquiries.

Post Office

Due to open on Thursday 27 th November 09.30 to 11.30. A cupboard and drawer with a lock is required. Stewart suggested installing a lock on existing furniture. Stewart and Billy will enquire exactly what is needed.

Notice Board

This arrived today and is very fine. The bill will be split with the parish council (£386.50).

The paper box needs replacing as it is rotten. Felt this is not our responsibility.

Emma attended the meeting. Emma does not have dates for Beavers. There is some confusion re dates and times. Billy to enquire of Charlotte.

AOB

Query raised re charges to the school for use of the Hall. Agreed to ask Elliott what they are charged and verify this is the going rate (or an agreed rate if not to cover costs). Agreed to debate at the next meeting.

Decoration of the Hall for Christmas will be on Thursday 4 th December at 7.30pm.

There being no other business the meeting closed at 20.50.

Next meeting: 9 December 2008.
