Minutes of the Planning Committee Meeting Held on Tuesday 8th June 2004 .
1 Present ; Councillors Scott, Norton, Richardson, Waterworth
Mr D Feeney (Clerk)
2 Apologies for absence: Councillor Grix
3 Declarations of Interest :
Councillor Richardson in respect of 16 Manor Close
4 Hill Head Farm . Members examined the proposal for the erection of a steel framed portal building to provide a grain store and considered the scheme acceptable.
As an associated matter Members asked the Clerk to obtain information about the planning requirements applicable to farm buildings located more than 40 metres from a road.
5 16 Manor Close . Councillor Richardson declared an interest and left the Meeting.
Members examined the proposal and decided to object to the scheme for the following reasons:-
> the development would create an imbalance to the look of the properties in Manor Close
> the applicant is seeking to build across an existing publicly owned landscaped area (land thought to be owned by Castle Morpeth Borough Council)
> if implemented the scheme involves the driving across a footpath, dangerous in itself and a dangerous precedent
> the development would remove “amenity land” which is really the only area of “Village Green”
> there would be a loss of existing car parking spaces
Members also agreed that the proposal should be drawn to the attention of the Conservation Officer of Castle Morpeth Borough Council.
